Swimrun and swim events
Responsibility for entrance and exit as well as in water, lies with the competitor. While we will be employing a water safety team comprised of safety kayakers, rescue boats and crews on hand throughout the swim, you are still responsible for your own safety in the water in terms of the wetsuit you choose to wear and your fitness to swim 2.5k or 5km in open water. You will also be responsible for your own entrance and exit from the water within a reasonable expectation of risk.
Conducting a measurement on the day of the swim will be the responsibility of the organisers. In the event of the water temperature falling below 11.9 C, a reduced swim course will be considered.
In the event of extreme weather, or an event leading to pollution, we reserve the right to cancel the swim at short notice. In such circumstances credits may be given towards another event organised by ourselves, although this will be at the discretion of the organisers. wetsuits Wetsuits are compulsory for all competitors with certain exceptions where experienced open water swimmers expressly request permission not to wear one. This will be decided on a case by case basis by the organisers.
**Sometimes for swim events, we have to change the start times due to tide times, advice from our safety team and/or the harbourmaster or conflict with another event. We must reserve the right to do this for the safety of our participants. However wherever possible we will do this at a maximum of two weeks prior to the event to give maximum notice and will endeavour to keep changes to within a reasonable timeframe and on the same day.**
